Overhauling the corporate card management site
My first task as a senior lead UX designer was to improve the website where our clients administer changes to their company cards. After speaking to several corporate card administrators (my first step in the design process is to talk to users), I realized we needed to provide more than a few new features to the existing product. I led user research sessions with real customers, and prototyped variations of the admin dashboard to make sure I was confident in the UX overhaul I was about to recommend to the wider team. I ended up designing an entirely new homepage with clearer info shown at a glance, and an insights tab that allowed admins to dig deeper into how spending was done at their firms.
In addition to redesigning the admin dashboard to better suit user needs, I also successfully pitched Amex’s leadership to continue investing in regular research sessions throughout the year. Many stakeholders set up sessions to hear directly from customers, and I kicked off a journey to not just update an admin dashboard, but to also the processes informing product launches.
